Notting Hill Carnival

It’s carnival time!

This weekend is one of the biggest, most colourful events on the London calendar – Notting Hill Carnival. Kicking off on Sunday 26th August for a two day extravaganza, the carnival is a must do for any Londoner and attracts around 2.5 million people each year. Since 1964 the carnival has been an annual celebration of Afro-Caribbean cultures and traditions and offers amazing floats, steel bands, calypso music and of course jerk chicken!

The bands will start playing at around 9am on both Sunday and Monday and the procession should finish around 7pm. The best way to get to the carnival is by public transport, but make sure to check TFL before starting your journey, Notting Hill Gate station will have limited access so it may be better to head to Paddington and walk instead.

Aside from the main action happening in Notting Hill,  the rest of London is going carnival crazy too! We’ve listed some of the best events happening around London this weekend in honour of the carnival.
